OVFC to host Crab Feast in September

The Odenton Volunteer Fire Company will be hosting their crab feast on September 26 from 5:00pm to 11:00pm. All you can eat crabs will be served by runner from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. A silent Auction will close at 9:30pm and the event will be DJed by DJ Jazzy James.
 
Tickets can be purchased before September 18 for $45.00 and tickets purchased after September 18 are $55.00.
 
We are also accepting donations and they can be dropped off at the Fire Hall for the Silent Auction. Any silent auction items please address to "Tracey Berry" and please on it "Silent Auction Donation."

In Memorial: John E. "Sunny" Rose

September 3, 1942 to May 4, 2015

John E. “Sunny” Rose, Jr., 72, of Millersville passed away on May 4, 2015. Sunny was born on September 3, 1942 in Baltimore. He grew up on a farm in Odenton, MD and had a life-long love of gardening. Sunny was a Letter Carrier and Supervisor for the US Postal Service for 42 years. He was a Life Member of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company, joining on Nov. 12, 1963 and served many terms as a line officer, board member and on numerous committees. He began his employment with the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute on Jan. 27, 1977 and taught countless classes and coached and mentored many aspiring instructors over the years. Sunny was inducted into the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association Hall of Fame in 1998 and was also inducted into the Maryland State Firemen’s Association Hall of Fame in 2009. Sunny also received many awards and citations throughout his many years of service.

Sunny is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Karla Rose; his devoted children, John E. Rose, III and his wife, Tara and Brian C. Rose; his grandchildren, Jacob A. and Karly E. Rose; his brothers, William P. Rose, Sr. and his wife, Linda and Robert L. Rose and his wife, Pat. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company, 1425 Annapolis Rd., Odenton, MD 21113 on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 2 PM. A time for visitation and fellowship will follow the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Odenton Vol. Fire Company. The doors will open at 1:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served afterwards.

OVFC members are requested to wear Class A or best available uniform.

The Odenton Volunteer Fire Company is a non-profit organization dedicated to Fire and EMS service for the community of Odenton, Maryland and surrounding areas in Anne Arundel County. Our company is predominantly volunteer with over 150 members and growing. We continue to operate largely with donations that are raised from several different fundraisers throughout the year. Donations to support our company are always welcome and can now be made online!
