OVFC to Host Volunteer Recruitment Day Sunday, April 10th

Want to be part of an incredible team and a new second family? Join us Sunday, April 10th between 12pm and 4pm for our annual Volunteer Recruitment Day.
 
For the second straight year, the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company is participating in the statewide volunteer Fire/EMS recruitment event in partnership with the Maryland State Firemen’s Association at our station located at 1425 Annapolis Road in Odenton.
 
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer can come tour our station, see our apparatus and demonstrations, meet our volunteers and learn about the process of joining the OVFC.
Whether you have years of fire/EMS experience, are looking to get started in the volunteer fire, rescue & emergency medical services, or are a member of our local community who wants to support our fire safety education, fundraising , and administrative efforts — The Odenton Volunteer Fire Company has opportunities for you!
 
If you are interested in joining us for this event – just stop in Sunday and we’ll be happy to welcome you into our family.

MVC with Entrapment - Rt. 3 South at Carver Rd

Just after midnight March 30, tones opened up at Company 28 for an MVC with Entrapment in Gambrills. Engine 51 (Waugh Chapel), Prince George’s County Engine 839 (Bowie), Truck 28 (Odenton), Squad 7 (Arundel), Medic Units 5 & 28 & Battalion Chief 4 responded on the incident. Medic 28 arrived to find one vehicle wedged under the trailer portion of a tractor trailer, with a victim heavily entrapped and asked for Aviation transport from the Maryland State Police. Engine 51 & Squad 7 arrived and began working on the passenger side of the car with Battalion Chief 4 in command. Truck 28 arrived and began working on the driver side of the vehicle, under the trailer. Both crews worked together to help free the victim which took about 20 minutes. The driver and lone occupant was extricated and flown to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment of severe and possibly life threatening injuries. Crews remained on the scene for about 1 hour.

The Odenton Volunteer Fire Company is a non-profit organization dedicated to Fire and EMS service for the community of Odenton, Maryland and surrounding areas in Anne Arundel County. Our company is predominantly volunteer with over 150 members and growing. We continue to operate largely with donations that are raised from several different fundraisers throughout the year. Donations to support our company are always welcome and can now be made online!
